theses

engineering my life trajectory for fun (+also my attempt at creating frameworks for myself). my theses on how to design and live a good life.

on work

  • thesis: deep obsession and focus on a singular mission
  • commit to deep projects (6 month - 1.5 year+, mission aligned)
    • working with startups in critical tech and optimizing for speed of learning
  • commit to mini experiments (1-8 days, mission adjacent)
    • weekly projects building out various ml pipelines for autonomy and prediction
  • cut all administrative committments and shallow status games (ex: hackathons, networking events, draining friends)

on social circle

  • thesis: small and deep social circles of CREATORS interopted with elite groups (founders, investors, etc)
  • socratica co working sessions (action, energy exchange)
  • mini dinners with founders (observation, deep convos)
  • deepen romantic relationship (mutual fulfillment and grounding)
  • diversify outside of engineers (mentally tiring after a while). optimize for artists, musicians, poets, creators, philosophers, etc. (humanities ftw!)

on lifestyle

  • thesis: military-grade routine
  • endurance: 1 mile runs every week + train for 5k and lower time
  • misc: same food, dress, hygiene habits, 8hr of sleep
  • kill two birds with one stone with a strong brand persona (ex: consistent fashion statement)

on serendipity

  • thesis: fully commit to rabbit holes and cultivate intuition/creativity
  • follow this cycle: observe / consume -> apply to a project
    • ex: study classical paintings at museums -> paint your own artwork
    • the best rabbit holes last hours to a couple days. do not half ass these efforts
  • return to classical art paintings and deep dives into historical events (european history, specifically)

on everything else

  • thesis: do not get distracted.
  • quit the status games. do not optimize for numbers (users, followers, likes). optimize for mastery and the status will come to you organically.
  • avoid people that drain you, even if they are objectively smart, talented, or successful. the most important measure is alignment to your vector of experience.
  • avoid traditional concepts of exceptionalism (usually its based on existing measures of achievement). actively aim to design your own exceptionalism by pioneering new ideas.
